The Dj workshops are going even better than the ones run lat year. There is loads of new young people Dropping in to have a go.
This time round there is a broader range of ability. The two resident Youth DJ's who were on the last DJ workshop round are now learning more advanced skills and also teaching the other young people the basics of Djing.

As before they are working hard towards a live broadcast on Kindafunkyradio.com which will be sometime in April!

Becky Haige is running the Derby 10K run to raise some money for The Drop Inn Charity.
This is the first time someone outside the Drop Inn volunteer list has decided to do a fund raiser for us. It's very kind of Her, Thank You for thinking of us. Hopefully more people in future will thing of us when doing a Charity Fund raiser event.

We have unofficially launched the website.

Which means the new design and generation of site is live and people can go on it, but we haven't promoted it and gone for an official launch yet.

We want feedback as to what people think of it so far!

CLICK: Donate

We are adding a button on our new website called Click Donate, which will hopefully act as a small regular way of getting funds.

It should make it easier for people to sponsor fundraising events and make generous donating when we're trying to raise money for things.

We'll keep everyone updated for when it's up and running.

Skate Ramp for sale

We don't really want to part with it but the Skate ramp we built as a project last year that we cant afford the insurance for people to use it is getting in our way. Especially now we have loads of work being done toward the festival, and with other big projects coming up in the pipe line. Would anyone want to buy it for £600 or the nearest offer?

So hopefully soon we'll have a places promo game called 'Tagged' and a people promo game called 'Band.its'

New Building Plans

We have been offered a new building which is next to the JamJar (Our Band Practice Space).

The building is in a bad state and needs a lot of work doing to it. The plans would be to decorate it smart inside and use it for a dance studio, which would double back as a meeting room which we could hire out to the public.

We will keep you informed on our decisions whether to take this project on.

Promo Film Editing

This does sound more posh than it probably is, however it is still really cool. A member of the community approached us about running some more Film production and editing workshops, which we would have loved to have done but didn't have the time or the funding. The guy called Tim was quite impressed with our film editing equipment and the environment to edit films in as well, He returned a few weeks later and edited a promo film for DETONATE and another for HOSPITALITY, which are two huge Drum and bass night's in the U.K. We feel please these films got edited at out centre by Tim, it's nice to see our equipment being used by other members in the community and it also promotes our ever growing Media side to the organisation.

We are planning a 'Back in the Day' project this year which will involve looking at what we were doing 10 years ago and scanning the news then posting it to this blog.
We'll let you know when we are near 1000, Thanks For reading

City-Zen Meeting

A couple of the drop Inn team found out about a really good non-profit organisation based in Derby, called City-Zen. The organisation helps raise money for grass roots organisations such as the Drop Inn. We were kindly invited to one of their planning meeting in Derby. The meeting was really useful, we learnt a lot about this important movement in Derby. We are hoping when We have our big events out the way we can do more work with them and help plan future events together. It was really nice meeting everyone from City-Zen and we look forward to any future meeting.
