EvaluatINN' 2010

2010 has been another incredible year for the Drop Inn organisation. We have seen some enthusiastic new volunteers step forward and get involved, we have won some more awards for the work we have done in our community, and the whole organisation is moving in different direction again with the potential of going into festivals and live events.

We are getting recognised on a wider level and being approached by new people to deliver our great services. The biggest celebration of the year was our 10 year Birthday! We are still here and we are accelerating into the future.
We have also had celebrities like The Petebox, MC Spyda and Nicky Blackmarket perform under our roof.

2011 is looking to be as exciting with the new website planned and the big festival events. If anyone wants to come and have a look around you know where we are. Unit 1, Derwent Street, Belper, DE56 1UQ. Please come for a cup of tea :)
We'll see you all in the next decade!

HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE INVOLVED AND EVERYONE THATS HELPED US ALONG THE WAY !!

Soundcloud Profile

The Drop Inn has set up a Soundcloud Profile for sharing the music the young people have produced on the music production workshops.

There is quite a few different tracks, that are produced to different states. There is some that are only intro's and others that are complete tracks. It's the perfect place to share our work in progress and finished music tracks.

We are planning on running competitions in the new year for re-mixes of different tracks we've produced for some of the media projects.

Looking forward to sharing our music.

New Website Concept

The new website is currently being designed. It's only at the sketch stage at the moment, but there is some amazing ideas coming out.

This will be the 3rd generation of website we've had. This one is planned to have an online radio station and an online game. If what is being planned is all part of the final 3rd generation website it will take a while to design and build. We will keep you updated as soon as the work starts in the new year.

Christmas Party 2010

YES you guys knew it! It happens every year. Even though ll the staff were still feeling a bit special from their own first Christmas meal / drink.

The usual silly party games came out, with pass the parcel of forfeits and other funny relay games. It was a great night. Hope everyone enjoyed it! We'll torture you again with the silly games next year. Hope you all have a good Christmas, and we'll see you all in the New Year.

Music Production - Update

The music Production workshops had been changed to drop in session were the young people can call in when they like and work on their tracks, with the tuesdays still continuing for any required technical support with shookz.

The tracks that had been finished were meant to have a hearing on the fridays 'Safe Rave' unfortunately we couldn't fit it in properly. So we are definitely going to exhibit it at the next 'safe rave' in January !!

Drop Inn Staff Christmas Meal 2010

This is the first Christmas Meal we have had at The Drop Inn, We thought it would be a nice idea because all the staff deserve to celebrate such a good year.

We've had The Youth Christmas Parties for years, so It was nice for the staff to also celebrate Breaking up for Christmas. We booked a table to Bengal Blues, then went to the Jasper and Conner Show at The Cross Keys across the road.
It was a really great night and we will definitely be doing it next year!

Festival Proposal Update

We have been approached by The Bearded Theory Group to put on a stage at their festival over 3 days. We have also been selected as a local charity to be supported by the festival.

It's all exciting news to start next year with! We'll be looking at playing bands, dj's and also have a huge selection of workshops.
Fingers Crossed :)

NICKY BLACKMARKET "Safe Rave"

This was the most talked about and the best 'Safe Rave' so far!

We had 112 Young People attend and everyone was inside dancing.

Nicky Blackmarket is one of the best known Drum and Bass DJ's and plays all over the world.

He Said "What You guys do down here is amazing!"

Some of the Young member's who had took part in the DJ Workshops from last year, had become resident DJ's at the 'safe rave' and supported Nicky Blackmarket this time. To some of them this is their idol, so they couldn't believe they got the opportunity to DJ along side him!

Some of the Young People having pictures with this celebrity after the show.

A Young member jumping higher and higher as the music breaks into Drum and Bass madness.

All the atmosphere of a real rave now, but in a completely safe environment.

Mr Blackmarket got taken back to the day of playing in tiny warehouses instead of huge hyper clubs and festivals.

And he loved it, the crown were so close to him and he was loving the response!

Some of the 112 Young people in attendance. The crowd was going wild! It was an amazing atmosphere!

The best and most used photo example already of the 'Safe Raves.'

Kit was the photographer who travelled across from wales to cover this 'safe rave.' He took some amazing pictures!

Sponsor a Christmas Tree Light

This year Belper Rotary Club decided to set up a sponsor a christmas tree light for £5, to send messages to lost loved ones. This is such a nice idea. The money raised goes to selected local Charities, and the Drop Inn was one of those charities. Thank You again for thinking of us and supporting us Rotary Club.

Radio Proposal

Endeavor are looking at large amounts of funding for their own radio project. They are interested in seeing the pilot work at the drop inn first, then want us to help them set their own up, so they can communicate and share ideas and projects between different communities up and down the country.

Our new website will have it's own online radio station build in. This will be the first stage, then once the shows start broadcasting we'll be able to start training other people up to set up online radio stations.

Anti_bullying Film

we have been granted some funding to put a project together with Filmcity. The young people have been thinking about ideas the last few weeks on how they can make an anti-bullying film. They decided on a drama instead of a play style piece.

The story line of this film is very hard hitting, but it was agreed it had to be to get the serious message across. This will be the forth film we have produced with Filmcity. The others are all mockumentary / documentary dramas all with a sense of humor.
However this one is the first serious one, so will require a lot of thought.

The film production time is really tight as well, we have to have is all finished and edited by the end of January. The team will be meeting every tuesday and some wednesdays for this project.

Festival Proposal

Continuing our radical plans for future fundraisers, and with the inspiration from the opportunity of screening a short film at Glastonbury festival, We have come up with some more ideas.

We have approached a few local festivals to see what we can offer to them as an organisation, from youth DJ's to workshops and young volunteers.

Currently we have heard back of Mychoons and The Bearded Theory Festival.

Epic Awards Nomination

Please Click here to nominate us for this Innovation Epic Arts award. Some of the crazy innovative projects we have ran in the past should get more recognized, then hopefully we'll be able to run a lot more crazy exciting projects.

Cheers x

Safe Rave Charity Box update

The young people in the Drop Inn have managed to raise nearly £100 toward getting Nicky Blackmarket (The A List DJ performing in two weeks).

They raised the money through the charity box labeled for the safe rave and selling burgers and hot food on the drop in open nights.

Well done to all the people who helped raise enough extra for this huge name DJ.
